Compassion-Based Resilience for Healthcare Providers

Healthcare professionals are exposed to others’ suffering on a regular basis through the very nature of their work. Empathic distress can be experienced as a normal consequence of empathic connection with those who are suffering. Compassion, rather than leading to fatigue and burnout, is a way of responding to others’ suffering that can strengthen our fortitude and benevolence. Drawing upon research and various models of compassion, you will discover mindfulness and compassion based practices that promote greater positive affect, connection, and resilience, even in the face of suffering. Through transformational meditative practices you will learn to activate your natural capacity for compassionate presence while strengthening your inner resources, ultimately improving the quality of care for yourself and others.

Introduction to Mindful Performance Enhancement, Awareness & Knowledge (mPEAK)

mPEAK is a mindfulness training program derived from best practices in optimizing human performance, focus, resilience and flow. This introductory program will provide an overview of core mPEAK concepts that enhance the inherent human capacity for peak performance through empirically supported mindfulness practices and transformative exercises. The versatility of the mPEAK program provides an enriching opportunity for anyone to improve performance in their personal and professional lives, including in health, life, work or athletics.

Mindful Self‑Compassion

This one-day introductory, educational and experiential workshop will provide information on current research that supports the science and components of self-compassion. The physiology of self-compassion with the foundation of mindfulness will be presented that supports the benefits of this practice. Through discussion, mindfulness meditation and experiential exercises, you will gain knowledge along with practical skills to help cultivate and integrate self-compassion into your daily life. The difference between empathy and compassion is explored to help with the development of self-compassion. You will learn how to motivate yourself and others with kindness rather than criticism by creating inner strength and reliance to meet everyday challenges.
